Framework for Healthcare Science Support Workers at Career Levels 2-4
The NES Healthcare Science Team launched their Healthcare Science Support Worker Framework for Career levels 2-4, on March 19th, 2024.
The framework was adapted from the Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professionals (NMAHP) framework and was part of a wider Scottish Government Commission.
The Healthcare Science workforce is involved in 80% of diagnostic decisions in patient care. They’re at the heart of improving healthcare and advancing scientific development through technology and innovation.
The Healthcare Science Support Worker framework:
- supports the roles and educational requirements for Healthcare Science Support Workers at Career Levels 2-4
- identifies learning resources to support staff at each of the three levels using the 4 Pillars of Practice namely: Clinical Practice, Facilitation of Learning, Leadership and Service Improvement
- identifies routes to support staff into registered roles
You can find the modified framework, including examples of the framework in use, FAQ’s, as well as a Case study, on the new Healthcare Science Support Worker page of Support Worker Central.
