IMPORTANT UPDATE: Clinical Physiology undergraduate programme at Glasgow Caledonian University discontinued.
We have been notified that Glasgow Caledonian University is unable to offer an intake for a new cohort commencing in 2025 and is not seeking to continue the programme in its current form.
Existing trainees (intakes 2021 and 2023) will be supported towards completion. For these students currently on the programme, they will be fully supported and there will be no change to the structure and quality with all modules continuing. Following the retiral of Dr Elaine Gribben, the Programme Lead is now Dr Niall MacQuaide who will be supported by 4 members of the team.
We are grateful to the university for supporting the clinical physiology programme for over a decade and to all those colleagues in service who have given their time and expertise to assist with it. In particular, we acknowledge and thank Elaine Gribben and Les Wood at GCU, without whom the programme could not have been instigated and sustained.
Next steps: we are asking interested parties to respond to a short survey to gauge experience of the programme and thoughts about a revised approach to supporting the clinical physiology workforce. The results of the survey will help inform future HCS educational developments in collaboration with colleagues in Scottish Government. Our survey is available at this link.
